On 26 August 2026, catastrophic flash floods and debris swept through Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading in northern Nepal, destroying homes, bridges, roads and livelihoods.

More than 32,900 people have been affected, with 7,570 homes destroyed and extensive damage to farmland, essential infrastructure and local communities.

Many families have been displaced, grieving loved ones and carrying the ongoing trauma of the disaster.

As debt and desperation grow, women and children face increased risks of trafficking, exploitation, forced marriage and deceptive labour recruitment.

Bring relief and healing to Nepal 

Your donation provides support for displaced families to cook food, keep clean, heal and remain protected from human trafficking, through:

  • Wash & Dignity kits with essentials to keep away infections including soap, sanitary pads, water purification tablets, water containers and solar powered lamps.

  • Kitchen kits with tools to help prepare meals including durable cooking pots, pans, plates and utensils. 

  • Counsellors who will sit with survivors, listen to their stories and help them step out of trauma's shadow and gain courage to rebuild their lives.

  • Awareness raising of human trafficking risks, strengthening of community protection networks and surveillance at key transit points.

FAQ’s

Every Daughter Matters usually specialises in anti-human trafficking work in southern Nepal. Who are we partnering with in this project?

The response will be delivered through our long-term Nepali partner, Aashish Social Service Nepal (ASSN). ASSN will work with trusted local churches, community leaders and government authorities in the affected districts.

How will Every Daughter Matters work alongside other flood-relief efforts in Nepal?

Our support is designed to complement existing food and emergency assistance. ASSN will coordinate with local authorities and community networks to identify unmet needs, verify recipients and avoid duplicating support provided by other organisations.

Who will receive emergency relief?

ASSN will work with local authorities, churches and community leaders to identify and verify flood-affected households according to need and vulnerability.

Hygiene and kitchen kits will be provided to displaced and flood-affected households in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. Priority will be given to households experiencing heightened vulnerability, including those led by women and families at increased risk of unsafe migration or exploitation.

Why is an anti-trafficking organisation responding to a natural disaster?

Disasters can increase the risk of trafficking, debt bondage and unsafe migration as families lose their homes, livelihoods and support networks. Providing early assistance helps reduce these pressures while local protection measures are strengthened.

What will the emergency relief include?

Households will receive practical hygiene and kitchen supplies to help restore safe daily routines. The response will also provide psychosocial support for people experiencing trauma and distress.

Why is psychosocial counselling included?

Many survivors continue to experience fear, grief and anxiety after their immediate physical needs are met. Trained counsellors will provide a safe place to talk, process their experiences and begin rebuilding emotional wellbeing.

How will donations be monitored?

Every Daughter Matters staff will oversee funding and reporting requirements, including distribution records and financial and activity reports on how the assistance was delivered.
